BIOGRAPHY 2011: Edenshade moved their first steps in the Italian underground metal scene over a decade ago, recording two demo CDs in the late 90s. "Ceramic Placebo for a Faint Heart", the band's debut album released in 2003 by Atrheia Records/Edel, created a fresh and innovative mixture of swedish death metal, progressive metal and electronics that critics and fans praised to be one of the most interesting things to have been released in years, with countless of enthusiastic reviews in Italy, Europe and Japan. "The Lesson Betrayed" (My Kingdom Music, 2006) pushed the band a step further: a new musical and vocal approach, new ideas and, most of all, a concept album. Recorded in the band's own Duality Studios, “The Lesson Betrayed” was a more complex and personal work, with death metal and progressive metal becoming only influences in the overall sound of the band. While someone was surprised or somehow disoriented, nearly everyone in the press and among the fans claimed “The Lesson Betrayed” to be Edenshade's best work to date. After a nearly two years stop and a lineup revolution that was about to kill the band, "The Paper Days EP" was released in December 2009: main composer and guitar player Stefano Wosz, the only remaining member of the original lineup, took on himself lead vocal duties and decided to publish a four song anticipation of the third album. Friend and producer Enrico Tiberi eventually joined the band for some months, working together with Stefano on the songs for upcoming album and contributing with one song. Anticipated by the video for the single "Need", "Stendhal Got That Close" is again an evolution. Produced by Stefano Wosz at Lullaby Studio with Enrico Tiberi, featuring guest Alessandro Vagnoni (Infernal Poetry/Dark Lunacy/Resurrecturis) on the drums, Marco Poderi (Dynamic Lights) on guitars and Andrea Massetti (Kurnalcool, ex-The Dogma) on the bass, the album takes every aspect of Edenshade's music and pushes it to a new level. Electronics become an even more fundamental part of the sound of the band, and complement crushing riffs, incredible drumming and the emotional melodies that have always been the trademark of Edenshade's music, in a set of groovy, catchy and intense songs. "Stendhal Got That Close" will be released on June 13th, 2011 on Casket Music/Copro Records and PHD Distribution. PRESS QUOTES: "A band who's not afraid of experimenting looking straight ahead.
