Kurt Busch won his fourth pole of the year and the 26th of his career Friday at the brand new Charlotte Roval. He will start alongside AJ Allmendinger at the first-ever Bank of America Roval 400 Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

"We had a plan going into that," Busch told NBCSN after qualifying. "I’m really glad of (crew chief) Billy Scott, I’m glad it stuck and it worked and we produced the two laps that we did, I’m just really proud of everyone on this 41 car to come into a unique situation like this."

Martin Truex Jr. (13), Kyle Busch (14) and Kevin Harvick (19) all failed to advance to the second round of qualifying.

Denny Hamlin (27) hit a wall so badly on his first run, his crew had to use tape to put the back of his car back on. He was unable to get to the second round.

The Bank of America Roval 400 can be seen at 2 p.m. ET Sunday on NBC.
